What's Up With That?

Serenity

Man, I just love the Serenity Prayer. Do you know it? C'mon, let's all say it together. If you're not comfortable using God, please substitute your favorite deity like Buddha, Allah, Heineken or Pamela Anderson. Here we go, take a deep breath first...

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

Exhale! Now wasn't that wonderful? I feel refreshed!

Now onto a totally different and totally unrelated topic.

I love work. I surely do. I mean, you just can't pack the amount of action and entertainment, challenge and satisfaction into a weekend like you can pack into a single work day And you get to enjoy that Monday through frickin' Friday, Baby! I love it, I love it, I love it! One can be truly inspired by the teamwork, the camaraderie and the team spirit that exists at work. Oh sure, there are those folks who spread rumors, who backstab, who use others to get ahead, who lie and cheat and stomp on the heart and soul of honest, decent people. But enough about the cafeteria workers. I just loves the community that is work.

Work = love.

Okay, where was I? Oh yes... God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change...

America. I love it. We're the hardest working nation on the planet. Life is too short for all that work. Damn it, we need to work smarter not harder. If we could just all get that message into our heads, we might be able to do something really great with the world like figure out how to make bigger and better SUV's with fully integrated digital cell phones that call home to set off the sprinklers during the town water ban. We might be able to figure out how to cool the planet down after the polar ice caps melt. You could probably solve both those problems with some simple software. Hey wasn't that redundant? I mean, it's just software, right? Piece of cake.

You know, there's no "I" in TEAM people. Apparently there's no "REWARD" in TEAM either. There's also no "Bite Me" in TEAM either... unless you include the European spelling, TEAME which you could rearrange to get pretty close.

... and the wisdom to know the difference.

Sooner or later we all wise up. That's my belief anyway. We're all created equal and we all end up equal. Maybe we should apply that knowledge to the time in between.
