What's Up With That?

I'm Thankful For...

Thanksgiving is one of those times designed for introspection. Along with birthdays and News Years Eve, what better time to pause, reflect and recall the many reasons there are to be thankful for all that we have? Here now are some of my own, deep, personal thoughts about things I'm thankful for.

I am thankful that I have at least half a brain and seem to be able to get by on a daily basis without annoying more than 30 or 40 people at a shot. I am thankful for being truly humble because that is a quality that many people admire and wish they possessed themselves, a trait that very few folks have but I know I do and that just makes me extra special. I am thankful that I am not a connoisseur of anything. Who wants that burden? I am thankful that I broke off my previous engagement to supermodel Christy Brinkley. I am thankful that I turned down the script for Ben Hur 2. I am thankful that I have the presence of mind to maintain good personal hygiene. I am thankful for my ability to treat people with respect most of the time and for the belief that this is something I need to get better at each and every day.

I am thankful that Victoria's Secret feels they need to send five catalogs per week to my house. I am thankful that I own beachfront property... well, not yet but I am thankful that global warning is melting the polar ice caps and that soon I will have my beachfront. I am thankful that the auto industry has nothing to do with consumer electronics or medical equipment; I'd get sick of hearing people brag about their new seven ton hearing aid or their all terrain off road DVD player. I'd get sicker hearing them try to justify it as being safer for them and their families.

I'm thankful for this incredible economy and job market. I'm thankful for friends who keep in touch with me.

But most of all, I am thankful to my eight readers for doubling, from last year at this time, the number of people who peek at this page and who may or may not get a little chuckle.
