Crispy Christmas

Based on a song written by Tom Kuzeja

Forget about those chestnuts roasting on an open file... here's a new classic for you!

Crispy Christmas was the first video I made with creative mastermind, Scott R. Glorioso, an employee at Avid Technology. Here's some background for you; Avid makes (among other things) world class non-linear video editing systems. At the end of each year, the company sponsors an employee video contest which was originally conceived as a way to get employees familiar with the Avid line of video editing products. All entries must be five minutes or less of original footage and must be edited on an Avid product. Winners are selected by employee votes. Scott has entered the contest every year and Crispy Christmas was my personal introduction to the process.

As far as the song is concerned, I remember being in some class at UMass discussing Christmas songs with my (then) friend Allison (who is now my sister-in-law). A scrap piece of paper and a few minutes later and I had the lyrics of Crispy Christmas written down. It wasn't until several years later when recording material with Scott that I actually had a chance to write some music and get the thing down on tape.

Looking for an upbeat theme, Scott approached me with a request to use the recording as the foundation of this holiday video. I happily agreed and having been a part of the creation of the video, I quickly got the bug and looked forward to making more.
